Bread2Board Manual Process

Bread2Board

Duration: 1

Bread2Board is a system that turns breadboard-style prototypes into real, permanent PCBs by bridging connections with solder spheres or paste on a reusable template.

This codelab is supporting material for the manual process (currently running a kickstarter) showcasing the prototypes and concepts for creating PCB's using Bread2Board.

The design and silkscreen preparation steps are the same for both the manual and automated processes.

The following manual steps should feel familiar to anyone with experience working with surface-mount components.

  • First, you’ll create a custom stencil using the supplied laser-cut stencil and the printed template configuration.

  • Next, using the stencil registration kit, you’ll apply solder paste precisely to the solder-bridge pads on the Bread2Board template.

  • Then, reflow the board using a hotplate, oven, or hot-air reflow system, just like in a typical SMD build.

  • Finally, once reflowed, apply the silkscreen to the Bread2Board PCB — just as you would in the automated process — and you're done!
